2. Data that remains on the device

Articles, bookmarks, recent searches, and technical synchronization state are stored locally on the device. VeraMint does not transmit bookmarks or search queries to its server. Local data can be removed by deleting the app; device backups are subject to the settings and terms of the respective platform provider.

3. Provision of articles through Convex

The app retrieves the curated article catalogue from Convex, Inc., USA. This necessarily generates connection data, in particular the IP address, time, requested function, request ID, and device and client information. VeraMint uses this data exclusively to deliver content, detect errors, and operate the service securely.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest is the secure and reliable operation of the app. Convex processes customer data as a processor and incorporates the EU Standard Contractual Clauses into its Data Processing Agreement. Further information:Convex Data Processing Agreement andConvex Privacy Policy.

4. App updates through Expo

VeraMint uses EAS Update by 650 Industries, Inc. (Expo), USA, to provide security-related fixes and minor updates. Expo may process the IP address, operating system, a random installation token, and technical interaction, error, and performance data. The token is not an advertising identifier.

Processing is carried out exclusively for update delivery, security, and technical reliability on the basis of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Expo acts partly as a processor for end-user data and uses, among other safeguards, the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for transfers to the USA. Further information:Expo Privacy Policy andExpo Terms of Service.

5. Hosting of this website

This website is delivered through Vercel Inc., USA. When the website is accessed, Vercel processes technically necessary access data such as the IP address, time, requested URL, browser and device information, and security logs. This processing is necessary to deliver the website, prevent attacks, and investigate errors.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is the secure and reliable operation of the website. Information about Vercel's processing and international data transfers is available in theVercel Privacy Notice.

6. Support and privacy requests

If you contact VeraMint by email, we process your sender address, the content of your message, and the associated technical email data in order to respond to your request. Providing this data is voluntary; without a reachable sender address, we cannot reply by email.

Messages sent to redaktion@veramint.de are forwarded through Email Routing by Cloudflare, Inc., USA, to a mailbox at Google LLC, USA. Cloudflare receives the message for the VeraMint domain and processes the email metadata and message content required to accept and forward it. The messages are stored in the Google mailbox until they are deleted. Further information is available in theCloudflare Privacy Policy and theGoogle Privacy Policy.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where the request concerns a contractual relationship or pre-contractual measures, and Article 6(1)(f) GDPR otherwise. Our legitimate interest is handling support and privacy requests. Messages are deleted no later than twelve months after final resolution unless a statutory retention obligation or an ongoing legal matter requires longer storage.

7. External links and sharing

VeraMint opens links to original articles, sources, and legal pages in a browser view only after an action by the user. From that point, the respective website provider processes data according to its own privacy policy. When voluntarily sharing an article, the user chooses the destination app; VeraMint receives no data about further processing there.

8. No advertising, tracking, or profiles

VeraMint does not use Google Analytics or other behavioural analytics services, advertising networks, or tracking technologies. The website does not set its own cookies unless they are technically necessary. There is no automated decision-making or profiling within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR.

9. Retention periods and international transfers

Technical data is processed only for as long as necessary for service delivery, security, error analysis, or legal obligations. The specific retention periods for technical provider logs are governed by their current terms and deletion policies. When processing takes place in the USA, the providers named above use the safeguards described in their terms, in particular adequacy decisions and EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

10. Your rights

Subject to the GDPR, you have rights including access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection. Any consent given may be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future. VeraMint does not, however, rely on consent for the technical processing described in this policy.

Send requests to redaktion@veramint.de. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. The Saxon Data Protection and Transparency Commissioner, Maternistraße 17, 01067 Dresden, is particularly responsible for VeraMint:datenschutz.sachsen.de.
